Tina Mackinder @ Mackinder Hair, Copenhagen

Tina’s entrepreneurial talents are well documented with her first salon in Odense, the ‘Art of Hair’ which she opened in 1989. Her new venture with partner Stephen Mackinder is set to take Danish hairdressing by storm at their beautifully fitted out premises located in the desirable shopping district in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Tina has talent and aptitude for creating head turning looks that perfectly reflect the client’s personality and lifestyle, a talent that was recognised with awards and accolades soon after she begun her hairdressing career. Her thirst for a challenge and natural business acumen were called upon when she opened her own salon. ‘Art of Hair’ pioneered one hour appointment times and Tina dedicated considerable time and money to raising the skill standards of her staff. Twice a year she spent time at the Vidal Sassoon Creative School and Advance Academy in order to keep her staff at the peak of their abilities. The salon became a huge success and Tina fell in love with the Sassoon philosophy and the man that ran their Advanced Academy – Stephen.
In 1998 Tina moved to London after being invited to become an instructor for Vidal Sassoon. Her insightful teaching, strong technical skill and gentle nature made her an instant hit with the students of Sassoon’s famous Diploma and Creative courses. In 1999 Tina sold her salon business in Denmark and left behind many sad clients and a deep respect in Danish hairdressing industry.
Mackinder’s Salon and School marks a return to the country that Tina loves “I am so looking forward to bringing all of my experience home to Denmark. Working with Stephen, we intent to offer hairdressers the very best training Scandinavia and our client’s, contemporary cut and colours that help them maximise the positional of their look,” says Tina.

Sarah Kjærsgaard @ Mackinder Hair, Copenhagen

Sarah was educated in Aarhus, completing four years training at Frisør Birthe Gleerup. During her final year she was invited to work at The Aarhus Theatre, styling the hair and wigs for many productions. It was also at this time that she became associated with fashion photographer Mikkel Russel, putting her hairdressing skills in front of the camera for the first time.
After four years in Aarhus she decided to move to Copenhagen, where a chance meeting with a friend brought her to Mackinder Hair. It was obvious to Tina and Stephen Mackinder that Sarah had a raw talent that could be groomed into something special. And so it proved. Sarah undertook a rigorous six-month re-training programme to home all the skills she possessed. She cuts hair with extraordinary vision and also possesses a great eye for colour.
She now works as a salon stylist and educator having also completed a teacher-training programme. “I enjoy giving inspiration to others, as well as being inspired by others.”
